At the invitation of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) of Morocco, Yin Li, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, led a CPC delegation to visit the country from September 21 to 23, and met with Hassan Benomar, member of the Political Bureau of RNI and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives; Abdellatif Ouahbi, Secretary General of the Authenticity and Modernity Party, Minister of Justice; Nizar Baraka, Secretary General of the Istiqlal Party, Minister of Equipment and Water; and Rachid El Abdi, President of the Regional Council of Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, among others.
Yin said that under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and King Mohammed VI, China-Morocco relations have developed rapidly. China is willing to take the 65th anniversary of the diplomatic relations as an opportunity to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Morocco, and elevate the strategic partnership to a new level. The Communist Party of China stands ready to enhance exchanges with Moroccan political parties on party and state governance and work together for modernization. Beijing is willing to expand cooperation with Morocco in areas such as people-to-people exchanges and finance. Yin also extended sympathies to Morocco for the recent devastating earthquake that caused heavy casualties.
The Moroccan officials expressed gratitude for China’s support over their disaster relief and reconstruction efforts, and expressed willingness to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, enhance the alignment of development strategies and mutual learning of modernization experiences. The Moroccan government, political parties and subnational governments are willing to further intensify exchanges and cooperation with China, and promote the Africa-China and Arab-China friendship, so as to jointly strengthen the Global South.
During the visit, Yin also attended the China (Beijing)-Morocco Trade and Investment Cooperation Conference, witnessed the signing of a framework cooperation agreement between China-Africa Development Fund and Attijariwafa Bank of Morocco, and the exchange of cooperation agreement between Beijing International Studies University and Mohammed V University. He also inaugurated Beijing International Studies University-Morocco, and attended the “Hello, Beijing” cultural exchange event.
