On December 13, Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, met with Anil Wadhwani, Chief Executive of Prudential plc (“Prudential”).

Yin mentioned that China's market is vast with broad prospects. As the potential of domestic demand continues to be unleashed, China provides enormous business opportunities, making it a magnet for companies and financial institutions worldwide. As the national financial management center, Beijing serves as the seat of national financial decision-making and management institutions, key financial infrastructure, financial industry associations and regional headquarters. Taking advantage of the development of the “two zones”, the city has been pushing forward high-quality development and high-level opening-up of the financial industry in recent years, creating a favorable environment and broad development space for all kinds of enterprises. As the pioneer in developing and opening up the insurance market in China, Beijing is home to many renowned insurance organizations at home and abroad. It is hoped that Prudential will leverage the city's market and policies to expand its presence in Beijing, and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as insurance and green finance. Beijing will continue to improve its financial ecosystem and business environment, and implement the “service packages” and “steward services” mechanisms, so as to provide high-quality and efficient services for various financial institutions and enterprises.

Wadhwani expressed confidence in the prospects for bilateral cooperation. Prudential is ready to leverage its strengths in risk management and professional talent, share its expertise in the insurance industry, and enhance cooperation with Beijing in areas such as commercial insurance, green finance, and investment management.

Mu Peng, Secretary General of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, attended the meeting.
